Arianna Rodi Named Rawlings Gold Glove Award® Winner

OKLAHOMA CITY – South Carolina softball first baseman Arianna Rodi has been named a Rawlings Gold Glove Award® winner, presented by the NFCA, it was announced Wednesday (May 28) during a press conference at the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.

Rodi becomes the first Gamecock to earn a Rawlings Gold Glove Award®. She is also the first player from the SEC to earn the award at first base.

In its fourth year of existence, the Rawlings Gold Glove Award is presented to the top nine defensive players at their respective positions in each collegiate division.

In 58 games at first, Rodi had a .995 fielding percentage. In 379 chances, she had 369 putouts and eight assists against two errors. She was a part of 23 doubles plays, second most in program history. Her .995 fielding percentage at first base ranks tied for fifth in program history during the SEC era (1997-present).

Rodi was an NFCA All-Region Second Team selection after setting a pair of program records with 49 walks and 17 home runs. Her .718 slugging percentage and 55 RBIs both rank third all-time in a single season. She hit a home run in five straight games, which is tied for the 14th longest streak in NCAA Division I history. She also had a 37 game on-base streak, which was the fourth longest streak in Division I this season.

Recipients of the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, presented by the NFCA, were selected by the NFCA’s NCAA Division I All-America Committee, following regional voting to identify the finalists at each position. The group utilized fielding statistics and school-submitted video to closely examine finalists and select the winners at every defensive position. Any student-athlete that competed in the current championship year and was nominated by their head coach who is a member in good standing with the NFCA was eligible for consideration for this prestigious accolade.
